Purpose of Initial Consultation

An initial consultation is important because we need to understand what you want to achieve and to learn the details about your immigration situation.

Everyone is different so it is vital to have an initial discussion. This gives us the information we need to provide you with accurate advice. During the consultation we assess your eligibility and the most suitable visa pathways for your situation.

During the initial consultation we:

• Identify the relevant immigration options and visa pathways to help you make informed decisions about any applicable next steps.
• Give you information about the eligibility requirements, advocacy and procedures of the process.
• Provide you with tailored advice about the visa pathways that meet your immigration goals and the strategies required to help you achieve your desired outcome.
• Let you know what the pros and cons are of each option.
• Outline the main stages of the application process.
• Give you an estimated processing time and cost of each option.

Required Information

We recommend providing us with information about your background before your initial consultation. This is usually for individual cases. The information required includes:

• You CV and date of birth.
• A copy of your most recent Australian visa approval letter, if applicable.
• Your partner’s CV and date of birth, if applicable.
• Whether you or someone included in your application has any health issues and are of good character. Good character refers to the committing of criminal offences no matter how minor. It is important to disclose these right from the outset.
• Any required English test scores in each band, where applicable.
• A short summary of your situation including your visa history in Australia, if you already have or have held an Australian visa.

For partner visa cases we usually ask for details about your partner. For example:

• Is your partner an Australian citizen or permanent resident?
• What is the nature of your relationship?
• Are you married or in a de facto relationship?
• How long have you lived or been together?
• Has your partner ever sponsored or been sponsored for a visa to Australia?
• Whether someone included in the application has any health issues and are of good character.

Payment

Payment is due when booking your initial consultation through our website. We use Stripe for secure payments. By booking your initial consultation you agree to pay a non-refundable fee before the consultation.

Rescheduling

With notice of 12 hours or more, you can reschedule your consultation through our online booking system. With less than 12 hours’ notice, please email our office on michelle@directmigrationexperts.com.au to reschedule your appointment.

Cancellations

Cancellations incur a $50 administration fee.

Lateness and No Shows

If you are late to your appointment, we cannot guarantee that you will receive the full duration of your consultation.

If you miss your appointment, we will not issue a refund but we will try our best to reschedule the appointment for you.

Consultations are only an assessment of visa eligibility and do not constitute a guarantee of ongoing visa assistance or a successful application.

Consultation is not legal or migration representation:

The applicant agrees and understands that the consultation does not mean we are your authorised representatives in an immigration application.

Although the initial consultation is a mandatory part of our process, if you engage our services, we will credit the initial consultation fee from our professional fees.

Confidentiality

We will not disclose, or allow to be disclosed, to a third party any personal information relating to your matter except as required by any laws of the Commonwealth, States or Territories.

Agreement of Terms

You acknowledge that should you decide to engage our services in your immigration matter, then this will be subject to a separate agreement.
