You can apply for the permanent skilled independent visa whether you are living overseas or are already in Australia. The 189 visa is a points-tested permanent visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an Australian employer.
Who is the subclass 189 visa suitable for?
- Have formal qualification in your nominated occupation and have post study work experience
- Have an occupation on the list of approved occupations (add her medium and long term list (add link to the 189 list here: https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2019C00855))
- Be under the age of 45
- Meet the minimum English requirements
- Nominate one of the occupations on the skilled occupation list for visa 189
- Take the points test and score a minimum of 65 points
- Can include members of the family unit- de facto partner, spouse and *eligible children
